How do I get a date for Homecoming?

So I', a Jr in High school and I've never had a date to a dance. I've been on dates, I've had boyfriends (never serious, I suck at relationships), and I'm not a social pariah or anything.

But I never have dates for dances.

It's shallow of me but I want a date this year. At the past few dances I've had fun, but I usually end up saving my best friend (who always gets asked by pretty much every straight guy at school) from whoever is currently obsessed with her (for almost the entire Homecoming dance last year I had to be out on the dance floor with her and her date because she was so freaked at being alone with him, even though alone meant in a crowd of 1000 ppl) and dancing with some guy friends.

This year I want a date.

I'm not ugly, but I'm not gorgeous either. And I can't be the one to ask a guy. I'd be laughed at like crazy if I did so (unless he goes to another school, but I don't know too many guys from other schools).

How do I get someone to ask me to Homecoming?



ps: I don't have anyone in mind. The only guy I possibly might really like I've only talked to once. And I found out that he has a girlfriend.

Well sweetie, (Had to say that...) you are pretty, no doubt about it, so no guy will turn you down for being ugly. Think of guys at my school, maybe. We've got plenty to spare.
