Help Please!!!! School Dance?

I've never been to middle school in America, I live in france and I'll be returning to America at the end of this school year..

In France school sucks!!!!!!! There is no school activities, dances or anything!!

I would like some heads up on school activities and stuff..

Mostly the SCHOOL DANCES!! I'm totally freaked, I don't know what to expect..I don't even know how to dance!!

The only time I went to a dance was here in France and it was at an over-night camp, all I did was jump around, and I didn't dance the slow...

Please help me!! Do you have to go with a guy or can you go with a group of your friends, what should I expect at a dance??

I'm veary shy..But, I make friend within 1 or 2 days..

Basicly my question is :What is middle school like!! (i'm in 7th grade, but in France school is nothing like over in the US..)

I'm in 11th grade and been to many school dances, so im sure i can help you out, hopefully :]



private school or no, i think all school dances are pretty much the same. so to begin, it doesn't matter whether you go with a guy, i go with my friends when i don't have a date. just go with someone (s) who you are comfortable with.



you have to be comfortable with yourself, that's most important, because if you're stiff out there in the dance floor then you'll look lame, just bounce around or move your hips a bit if you don't feel like dancing.



okay now dancing, it doesn't matter if you can or not. just as long as you're having fun, and in 7th grade, there's not a lot of great dancers out there.



sometimes there won't be any dancing, if everyone is too shy to open up the dancefloor, you should yourself, I'm VER VERY shy myself but when I see and empty dance floor i push my friends in there with me and just start dancing, sooner or later everyone else will join you.



there's not alot that happens in school dances, they're just like any regular birthday party, except for the little kids running around and parents. fights may break out, but that's typical middle/high school.



the most important thing is CALM DOWN. just be yourself and relax. :] im sure you'll have fun!

Calm down. As far as dances go, unless you are going to a homeschool dance (which rocks) all that you have to do is jump around, and slow danceing is just swaying back and forth. I know how you feel - I was homeschooled all through elementary school. I came back for my senior year. In middle school, you start changeing classes. That is no big deal after the first few days. As far as people go, be yourself. Middle school can be really fun, as long as you don't stress it too much. Bon chance!
ok, well im in 7th to, very shy, and going into a private all girl school for high school, at my school, we have a halloween dance, and all we do is fast dance, i guess were not really allowed to slow dance unless your in high school at the prom...but i've never been asked out before so i go with my friends and we basically just chat and snack on popcorn (the dance is after school) thats basically it, most people r embarrassed to go and dance so everybody basically just hangs out, only the daring go on the dance floor (cafiteria lol) i was really worried i would make a complete fool of my self but its no big deal. I was freaked out to. I hope i helped and best of luck to u!

Dont worry...i havce been to all 5 of my school dances and nobody cares about how u dance! They just are all lookin @ how day dance. dances are NOT about how ppl dance...its about havin a good time with all ur freinds! Don't Worry!! Have a good Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
